In 2017, I dedicated a year of service to an Americorps program called City Year where worked as a tutor and mentor for youth in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I served in a seventh-grade English classroom where my partner teacher and I sometimes had over 50 students at once. Along with supporting in a classroom setting, I began small-group reading interventions with a focus list of students. I created customized learning plans based on their STAR test scores, and by the end of the year, my students who were behind their classmates by more than 30%, closed their learning gaps and even surpassed their peers in testing. Seeing what I could accomplish during just one year of service inspired me to serve another year as a team leader. I trained a team of tutors in small group interventions, and in my spare time, I familiarized myself with multiple curriculums. I am currently a Neuroscience major at Loyola University New Orleans, and I’m 8 credits shy of my degree. I started Everyone Can Learn Tutoring and Coaching Services to give back by providing an affordable, supplemental education for anyone who needs it. Whether you're a parent looking for someone to help your kids or a college student struggling to wrap your head around a challenging topic, we can help. Everyone has a right to a quality education, and while schools don't always provide that, we do.
